Lincoln Man Sentenced for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine

U.S. Attorney’s Office August 09, 2011
  • District of Nebraska (402) 661-3700

United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced that Marvin Ricardo Solis, 36, of Lincoln, Nebraska., was sentenced on August 5, 2011, to 121 months in prison by United States District Judge Richard G. Kopf, for his involvement in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. In addition to his prison term, Solis will serve five years of supervised release following his release from prison.

Between August of 2009 and February of 2010, Solis delivered cocaine on two occasions, and methamphetamine on one occasion to an undercover Lincoln police officer. During the same time frame, Solis arranged for three other persons to deliver methamphetamine to the undercover officer on a total of four occasions. Solis also introduced the officer to a co-defendant, Wilson Garcia-Panama, for the purpose of having the officer buy methamphetamine from Garcia-Panama.

Drugs purchased by the undercover officer and other information obtained by law enforcement indicated that Solis was involved in the distribution of at least 211 grams (approximately 7 ½ ounces) of methamphetamine and at least 65 grams of cocaine (approximately 2 ¼ ounces) in the Lincoln area between August of 2009 and April of 2010. Solis pled guilty to the conspiracy charge in February of 2011.

Solis is the last of five co-defendants who were charged with and arrested for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine in April of 2010. Co-defendants Alfredo Hernandez Lopez, Jorge Arreaga, Wilson Garcia-Panama, and Dante Vicharra all pled guilty and received sentences ranging from 37 months to 70 months in federal prison in 2010.

This case was investigated by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force (Lincoln Police Department, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department, and University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department); the Drug Enforcement Administration, (DEA); Federal Bureau of Investigation, (FBI); and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
