Jury Convicts Niobrara, Nebraska Man of Sexual Abuse

United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced that after an Omaha trial in front of Senior United States District Judge Lyle E. Strom that began on May 31, 2011, and ended June 2, 2011, the jury returned a guilty verdict against Larry Rouillard, 49, of Niobrara, Nebraska, on the charge of sexual assault. His sentencing is set for August 25, 2011.

On June 2, 2010, Santee Sioux Tribal Police requested the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in investigating a sexual assault that occurred on the Santee Sioux Indian Reservation. The victim reported that she had been drinking with Larry Rouillard from the evening of May 29, 2010, to the early morning hours of May 30, 2010. The victim thought she might have been raped by Rouillard. The victim had visible bruising on her right bicep and right thigh. Rouillard was interviewed by law enforcement and admitted to sexual contact with the victim while she was unconscious.

The case was investigated by the Santee Sioux Tribal Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
