Career Offender Sentenced to Over 20 Years for Distribution of Crack

U.S. Attorney’s Office July 05, 2011
  • District of Nebraska (402) 661-3700

United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced that Diablo William, 27, of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced on July 5, 2011 by United States District Judge Laurie Smith Camp to 262 months in prison for two counts of distribution of crack cocaine. In addition to his prison term, William will serve five years of supervised release following his release from prison.

William pled guilty to distributing crack on two occasions in March and April, 2010. Because of his previous convictions, he qualified as a career offender.

Based on evidence presented at the sentencing hearing, the court determined that William did not qualify for acceptance of responsibility due in part to his alleged commission of a robbery in February 2011. William was on federal pretrial release at the time of that incident. Further, evidence was presented at the sentencing hearing concerning allegations that, while in jail, William attempted to bribe the victims and to manufacture evidence exonerating him of the robbery. The robbery charge remains pending in Douglas County District Court.

The federal drug case was investigated by the Greater Omaha Safe Streets Task Force, led by the FBI. The alleged robbery is being investigated by the Omaha Police Department, assisted by the FBI.
