  • Northern District of Iowa (319) 363-6333

David Neve, 58, from Rudd, Iowa, has been charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. The charge is contained in a complaint, filed on September 15, 2010, in United States District Court in Cedar Rapids after Neve’s arrest at his home that morning.

The complaint alleges that, between January 2010 and September 15, 2010, Neve conspired to distribute methamphetamine. The complaint further alleges that Neve had been selling “ice” methamphetamine from his home in Rudd since November 2008. The complaint states that Neve received “ice” in large quantities, up to pounds at a time, and sold in quantities of up to ¼ pound at a time. The complaint further states that Neve was known to have guns spread through out his property for easy access. According to the complaint, a search warrant was executed on September 15, 2010, at Neve’s residence. The complaint states that numerous guns and a large amount of ammunition was found. The complaint also states that officers seized a large quantity of “ice” methamphetamine, and over $100,000 in cash.

If convicted, Neve faces up to 20 years’ imprisonment, up to a $1,000,000 fine, $100 in special assessments, and three years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

Neve appeared on September 15, 2010, in federal court in Cedar Rapids and was held without bond. Neve’s next appearance for a detention and preliminary hearing is set for September 20, 2010.

As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jack Lammers and was investigated by the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force including the Special Operations Group; Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office; Mason City Police Department; Clear Lake Police Department; Iowa State Patrol including the Tactical Team; Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives; Federal Bureau of Investigations; Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement; Franklin County Sheriff’s Office; Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office; Floyd County Sheriff’s Office; Wright County Sheriff’s Office; Charles City Police Department; Nora Springs Police Department; Des Moines Police Department Bomb Squad K-9; Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations; Iowa State Fire Marshal; and Iowa National Guard.
