Lincoln Resident Sentenced to Life in Prison for Conspiring to Distribute Cocaine and Crack Cocaine

U.S. Attorney’s Office June 25, 2010
  • District of Nebraska (402) 661-3700

United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg and the Lincoln Police Department, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation announce the following information for the attention of the media:

Event Triggering this Release:

The Honorable Richard G. Kopf, United States District Judge, sentenced Jaktine Moore to life in prison for conspiring to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine in the Lincoln area. On February 2, 2010, a federal jury returned guilty verdicts against Moore and his sister, Jobita Avery, for conspiring to distribute the drugs.

Evidence presented at trial established that Moore and Avery were involved in distributing crack cocaine in the Lincoln area from 2005 through 2008. Powder cocaine was also a part of the conspiracy, both as a product being sold and as the base used to manufacture the crack that was being distributed throughout Lincoln.

Because Jaktine Moore had two prior felony drug convictions, the court entered the statutorily mandated sentence of life imprisonment without release.
