Bellevue Man Sentenced for Receiving and Distributing Child Pornography

U.S. Attorney’s Office October 19, 2009
  • District of Nebraska (402) 661-3700

United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg, the Nebraska State Patrol, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation announce the following information for the attention of the media:

Event Triggering this Release:

Jeremy Flemke, age 34 of Bellevue, was sentenced for receiving and distributing child pornography. The Honorable Laurie Smith Camp sentenced Flemke to 180 months in prison. After his release from prison, Flemke will begin a five-year term of supervised release.

On January 12, 2009, the Nebraska State Patrol was conducting computer investigations seeking individuals distributing and receiving child pornography by way of Limewire, a peer-to-peer Internet file-sharing program. An investigator connected with Flemke’s shared-file folders and observed 175 movie files of suspected child pornography available for download.

On March 26, 2009, the Nebraska Sate Patrol executed a search warrant on Flemke’s residence in Bellevue. A forensic review of the computer revealed at least 800 videos and thousands of pictures of child pornography. The images included bondage and torture of young children.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006, by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
