Norfolk, Nebraska Man Sentenced for Receiving Child Pornography

United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg, the Nebraska State Patrol, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation announce the following information for the attention of the media:

Event Triggering this Release:

Mitchell L. Schultz, 51, of Norfolk, Nebraska, was sentenced for receiving child pornography. The Honorable Laurie Smith Camp sentenced Schultz to a 72-month term of imprisonment. After his release from prison, Schultz will begin a five-year term of supervised release.

On September 22, 2008, the Nebraska State Patrol was conducting an undercover investigation looking for individuals receiving and sharing child pornography using peer-to-peer Internet connections. They successfully downloaded a video of child pornography from Schultz’s shared file folder on his computer.

A search warrant was executed on November 3, 2008. Forensic analysis of the computer and CDs taken from the residence revealed 14 videos of child pornography. The videos included bondage and the sexual assault of a 3- or 4-year-old child.
