Jury Convicts Edmond Man of Transporting and Downloading Child Pornography

OKLAHOMA CITY—Late last week, Jory Michael Nance, 28, of Edmond, Oklahoma, was convicted by a jury of 57 out of 59 counts of transportation, receipt, and attempted receipt of child pornography, announced Sanford C. Coats, United States Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma.

The jury convicted Nance of transporting child pornography across state lines as he traveled with his job as well as transferring child pornography to an undercover Edmond Police Department detective through peer-to-peer file sharing. The jury also convicted Nance of downloading and attempting to download child pornography through peer-to-peer file sharing.

Nance was charged in a superseding indictment returned by a federal grand jury on January 22, 2013. United States District Court Judge Joe Heaton will sentence Nance in approximately three months. For each count, he faces at least five years and up to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and five years to life supervised release. Upon release from prison, Nance will have to register as a sex offender.

This case was part of Project Safe Childhood, the flagship program in the Department of Justice’s National Strategy for Child Exploitation Prevention and Interdiction, and was the result of an investigation conducted by the Edmond Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Brandon Hale and Chris M. Stephens.
