MUSKOGEE, OK—The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, announced today that Bryan Lee Lynch, age 21, of Boynton, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 46 months’ of imprisonment, followed by 36 months of supervised release, for illegal making of a destructive device, in violation of Title 26, United States Code, Sections 5681(f), 5822, and 5871.

Charges arose from an investigation by the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Department; the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The defendant was indicted in November 2011 and pled guilty in December 2011.

The indictment alleged that on or about July 10, 2011, Lynch built a destructive device that was constructed using a glass container with a metal lid and a cloth wick.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives concluded that the materials were designed as an improvised incendiary bomb, commonly known as a molotov cocktail.

The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over today’s hearing. The defendant will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending transportation to the designated federal prison at which he will serve his non-parolable sentence.
