Coalgate Woman Sentenced for Theft by Employee of Gaming Establishment on Indian Lands

MUSKOGEE, OK—The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, announced today that MARY LYNN OTT-CLEM, age 46, of Coalgate, Oklahoma, was sentenced to two years of probation for theft by officer or employee of gaming establishment on Indian lands, in violation of T Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1167(a) and 2. OTT-CLEM was also ordered to pay $2,820.00 in restitution.

Charges arose from an investigation by the Choctaw Nation Tribal Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigations. OTT-CLEM pled guilty to a misdemeanour Information in August, 2010.

The Information alleged that on or about June 15, 2009, the defendant, an employee of the Choctaw Nation Stringtown Casino, embezzled over $2,000.00.

The investigation revealed that OTT-CLEM, employed as marketing manager, was responsible for drawing the winning names for promotional drawings. She began ignoring the random computer generated winners list and instead listed the names of her acquaintances as the winners.

The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over today’s hearing.

Assistant United States Attorney Dean Burris represented the United States.
