OKLAHOMA CITY—Yesterday, DAVID ALLEN BROWN, 23, from Norman, Oklahoma, was sentenced by United States District Judge Stephen P. Friot to serve 100 months for robbing the Bank of the West, located at 2122 West Main Street, in Norman, Oklahoma (the “Bank”), announced Sanford C. Coats, United States Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma.

According to court records, on November 4, 2010, a white male entered the bank wearing a black knit hat, a black long-sleeve tee-shirt with a Harley Davidson logo, and shoulder length brownish-red hair. The man approached a bank employee and demanded money. After leaving the bank, a bank employee activated an alarm and the Norman Police Department responded and pulled over a vehicle occupied by Brown and JOSHUA DAN ROSE, 20, also of Norman, within 15 minutes of the robbery. The men fled in the vehicle at a high rate of speed. After a short pursuit, Norman Police Officers stopped the vehicle again and the defendants were arrested.

Both men pled guilty to robbing the Bank. During the plea hearings, Brown admitted he robbed the Bank and Rose admitted he was the getaway driver. Brown also admitted to being a previously convicted felon illegally in possession of the firearm found in the vehicle.

Following the 100-month prison term, Brown was ordered to serve three years of supervised release. Rose is awaiting sentencing and faces up to 20 years in federal prison.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Norman Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Arvo Q. Mikkanen.
