Army Private and Mother of 10-Year-Old Boy Charged with First-Degree Murder in Death of Child at Fort Sill Army Post

U.S. Attorney’s Office September 08, 2011
  • Western District of Oklahoma (405) 553-8700

OKLAHOMA CITY—A federal indictment was unsealed today charging CONNELL C. WILLIAMS, 32, from Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and CANDICE C. HOLLOWAY, 31, from Norfolk, Virginia, with first-degree murder for the death of Holloway’s 10-year-old son on Fort Sill Army Post, announced Sanford C. Coats, United States Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma.

According to the indictment, Williams, an enlisted member of the United States Army, was assigned to Fort Sill in Comanche County, Oklahoma, in August 2010. It is alleged that in September 2010, Holloway and her children moved into Fort Sill military housing with Williams. Williams and Holloway were not married and Williams is not the biological father of the two children, according to the indictment. It is further alleged that while Williams and Holloway lived on Fort Sill, they intentionally committed child abuse by depriving Holloway’s 10-year-old son of food, which ultimately resulted in his death on May 5, 2011.

Earlier today, Williams was arrested on Fort Sill. Holloway was also arrested today in Norfolk, Virginia.

If convicted, Williams and Holloway faces up to life in prison or death. Reference is made to the indictment for further information. The public is reminded that an indictment is merely an accusation and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Army Criminal Investigation Division. The case is being prosecuted by United States Attorney Sanford C. Coats and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Randal A. Sengel and Andre’ B. Caldwell.
