City Man Charged with Saturday’s Armed Bank Robbery

OKLAHOMA CITY—Today, LEONARD D. ETHEREDGE, 44, from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was charged in federal court with committing bank robbery with a dangerous weapon following Saturday’s robbery of Banc First, located at 11001 N. May Ave., in Oklahoma City, announced Sanford C. Coats, United States Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma. Etheredge appeared this afternoon in federal court and remains in custody.
If convicted, Etheredge faces up to 25 years in federal prison. The public is reminded that the criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Oklahoma City Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Yancey.
