Female Serial Bank Robber Arrested

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—James E. Finch, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Oklahoma, announced the arrest of Briona Marie Matthews, 30, of Oklahoma City, related to four recent Oklahoma City bank robberies.

A lone black female presented demand notes at four area banks including BancFirst, 11001 N. May on March 4, Chase Bank, 12324 N. May on March 10, First Fidelity Bank, 2825 NW 164th Street on March 12, and Bank of the West on March 19, all of which were in Oklahoma City.

At approximately 1:50 p.m. this afternoon, Briona Marie Matthews was arrested without incident by FBI Agents in the 11000 block of Springhollow Road in Oklahoma City. Matthews was arrested per a sealed Criminal Complaint filed this afternoon in the Western District of Oklahoma for violation of Title 18, Section 2113(a), Bank Robbery.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and Oklahoma City Police Department. Forensic analysis was conducted by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and Oklahoma City Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office, Western District of Oklahoma.
