Chantilly Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Abuse of a Minor

NEWPORT NEWS, VA—Anthony Anderson, 29, of Chantilly, VA, pleaded guilty today to having sex with a 15-year-old girl.
Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, made the announcement after the plea was accepted by United States District Judge Raymond A. Jackson.
“No parent should fear that their daughter will be sexually abused by someone they invited into their home,” said U.S. Attorney MacBride. “We’re aggressively pursuing child exploitation cases to prevent those who prey on minors from abusing others.”
Anderson was indicted on March 9, 2010 by a federal grand jury on one count of sexual abuse of a minor. Anderson faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 monetary fine when he is sentenced on Sept. 9, 2010. Anderson also faces lifetime supervised release when released from incarceration.
As discussed in a statement of facts filed with his plea agreement, in 2009 Anderson had an ongoing sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl at the United States Army base at Fort Monroe, Va. Throughout the summer of 2009, Anderson visited the victim’s family most weekends, and on many of those visits he and the victim would engage in sexual intercourse. He also had sexual relations with the victim when she was in Hampton and at his residence in Chantilly, Va. The relationship was discovered by the victim’s mother, who reported the sexual abuse to the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
This case was investigated by the FBI and the U.S. Army CID. Assistant United States Attorney Elizabeth Yusi is prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States.
