FBI New York’s Long Island Gang Task Force Arrests Six Related to Gang Activities

Early in the morning of December 21, 2010, the FBI’s Long Island Gang Task Force arrested six individuals charged with narcotics conspiracy violations by the U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of New York. The individuals were from the North Amityville and Copiague area; one had connections to the Crips street gang.

This operation brings a total of 40 subjects arrested by the Long Island Gang Task Force for this particular initiative. The task force was established in 2004 to address increasing violent crime in the surrounding communities.

Speaking about the arrest, Senior Supervisory Resident Agent Michael J. Ferrandino said, “These arrests represent the continued success of the Long Island Gang Task Force working together to make our communities safer. However, we know our work with will not be complete until the violent activities that these gangs are carrying out on our streets are stopped.”

In addition to the participating agencies in the FBI's Long Island Gang Task Force, assistance with this investigation was given by the Suffolk County Police Department's Patrol Special Operations Team, the U.S. Marshals Service Long Island Fugitive Task Force, New York State Parole, and the Suffolk County Probation Department.
