The New York Office of the FBI recently celebrated Native American and Alaskan Heritage Month at their downtown offices. The program, set up by the Equal Employment Opportunity Office, was opened with remarks by the Assistant Director in Charge Janice K. Fedarcyk. Also featured were Special Agent Robert Bennett from the Minneapolis Office’s Pierre Resident Agency and Unit Chief Michelle Gruzs for the Indian Country Special Crimes Unit. Special Agent Bennett and Unit Chief Gruzs spoke about the unique challenges of their jobs and the importance of partnering with community leaders and local law enforcement counterparts. Special Agent Thais Canin was responsible for setting up the program.
“As we recognize the accomplishments and honor Native Americans and Alaskans in our workforce, we are also given the chance to appreciate their cultures, diverse languages, history, and traditions,” said Assistant Director in Charge Janice K. Fedarcyk. “Our diversity is what makes us such a strong, resilient, and vibrant nation while our own diversity here at the FBI is a source of our organization’s continued strength.”
