Arnoldo Jimenez, wanted for allegedly murdering his new bride less than 24 hours after marrying her, has been named to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. His wife, Estrella Carrera, 26, was found dead in the bathtub of her Burbank, Illinois, home, still in the dress she wore to her wedding reception.

Effective May 25, 2023, the FBI is offering a reward of up to $250,000 for information leading to the arrest of Jimenez. More information on the reward increase.

Jimenez and Carrera married in a city hall ceremony on Friday, May 11, 2012, and then attended a celebration with family and friends. Burbank police and the FBI believe Jimenez and his bride got into an argument in Jimenez’s black Maserati as they were traveling home from the reception in the early morning hours of May 12, 2012.

“We believe she was stabbed in the vehicle and then dragged back into the apartment and left bleeding in the bathtub,” said Special Agent Steve Barnard, who is working the case out of the FBI’s Chicago Field Office.

Carrera’s family became alarmed when she did not arrive to pick up her children—a 2-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter—as planned. The family asked law enforcement to perform a wellness check on Sunday, May 13, 2012, during which Carrera’s body was discovered.

Jimenez was added to the list of the Ten Most Wanted Fugitives because of his violent nature, his alleged involvement in his wife’s killing, and his efforts to evade capture.

“He has a criminal past and a history of violence. We want to bring him to justice.”

“He has a criminal past and a history of violence,” Barnard said, stressing that multiple law enforcement agencies have put considerable time into investigating the case and searching for Jimenez: “We want to bring him to justice.”

Jimenez is now 37 years old. He is reported to be 6 feet tall, between 200 and 225 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He may have fled to Durango, Mexico, specifically in the area of Santiago Papasquiaro. Jimenez may also frequent Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He is no longer in possession of the black Maserati.
