FBI Director James B. Comey has named Timothy Slater as the special agent in charge of the Denver Division. Mr. Slater most recently served as the deputy assistant director of the Critical Incident Response Group, the Quantico, Virginia-based division that provides expertise in crisis management, negotiations, behavioral analysis, countering explosives, aviation, and tactical operations.

Mr. Slater joined the FBI in 1999 and began his career in the Detroit Division on the Violent Crimes Task Force.

Mr. Slater has held leadership positions in the Criminal Investigative Division, as the senior supervisory resident agent over four resident agencies in the Oklahoma City Division, in the Critical Incident Response Group, and in the Knoxville Division.

Mr. Slater is a certified police instructor and former SWAT and HAZMAT team member.

Mr. Slater follows Thomas Ravenelle, who has transferred to the Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters. Mr. Slater will assume this new role in September.
