Frederick T. Brink Selected to Report as Special Agent in Charge in Jackson

Washington, D.C. – FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III, recently announced the appointment of Frederick T. Brink as the new Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Jackson Division, which addresses FBI investigative matters for the entire state of Mississippi. The field division's main office is located in Jackson, and there are nine resident agencies, which serve as satellite offices, established throughout the state.

In June 2005, Mr. Brink was promoted by Director Mueller to Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Special Operations Division, New York Field Office, the position he is leaving to accept the Jackson Division assignment. In his current assignment, Mr. Brink directs approximately four hundred agent, task force, and support personnel toward providing the New York Field Office with strategic operational, investigative, and infrastructure support. Mr. Brink's first official day in the Jackson Division will be announced at a later date.

A 22-year veteran of the FBI, Mr. Brink graduated from the United States Naval Academy (USNA) in 1978 and served in the United States Navy as a shipboard surface warfare officer for three years. After a subsequent three-year assignment as a military instructor at the USNA, Mr. Brink resigned from active military duty in 1985 upon receiving his special agent appointment to the FBI.

During his FBI career, Mr. Brink's field assignments have included Tampa, Florida (the Orlando Resident Agency); Honolulu, Hawaii (as supervisory special agent); and New York, New York (as a special agent, Assistant Special Agent in Charge, and currently as Special Agent in Charge). In addition, Mr. Brink has served at the FBI's Operational Technology Division, located at Quantico, Virginia (as supervisory special agent and as chief of the Technical Programs Unit), and overseas at the United States Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (as the FBI's Legal Attaché to Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Oman). During these assignments, Mr. Brink acquired extensive experience in foreign counterintelligence and terrorism investigations, a wide range of criminal investigations, international operations, physical and electronic surveillance, information technology, and the investigative application of special technologies.

Mr. Brink and his wife, Monika, are the parents of two sons, Frederick and Matthew.
