FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III, Announces the Appointments of Special Agents in Charge for FBI Field Offices in Albuquerque, NM; Las Vegas, NV; Louisville, KY; Mobile, AL; Sacramento, CA; and Salt Lake City, UT

Director Mueller selected the following individuals to oversee FBI operations in their respective regions:

Andreas Stephens, SAC Albuquerque: Mr. Stephens is currently a Section Chief in the Criminal Investigative Division. He served as an ASAC in the Detroit Division and held supervisory positions at FBI Headquarters, the Newark Division, and the Albany Division. He began his FBI career as a Special Agent in the Albany Division.

Ellen B. Knowlton, SAC Las Vegas: Ms. Knowlton is currently serving as the Deputy Assistant Director of the Counterintelligence Division. She has also served as a Special Agent in the Sacramento, Oklahoma City, San Francisco, and New Orleans Divisions. From 1989 to 1992, Ms. Knowlton worked at FBI Headquarters in the National Security and Inspection Divisions. From 1995 through 1996, Ms. Knowlton was a Unit Chief in the Criminal Investigative Division. Ms. Knowlton also served as an ASAC in the Washington Field Office.

J. Stephen Tidwell, SAC Louisville: Mr. Tidwell is currently serving as Inspector in the Inspection Division. He has also served as a Special Agent in the Dallas, Mobile, and Baltimore Division. From 1998 to 1999, he was promoted to Unit Chief of FBI Headquarters International Training Unit. Mr. Tidwell was also a Supervisory Special Agent in the Baltimore Division and served as ASAC in the Salt Lake City Division.

Timothy Munson, SAC Mobile: Mr. Munson is currently a Section Chief at the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He served as a Special Agent in the Philadelphia and Jackson Divisions. Mr. Munson also served in supervisory positions in the Baltimore Division, Philadelphia Division and FBI Headquarters. He served as an ASAC in the Detroit Division from 1997 to 2000.

Michael A. Mason, SAC Sacramento: Mr. Mason is currently serving as Special Assistant to the Director. Mr. Mason has held supervisory positions in the Albany Division and at FBI Headquarters. He served as ASAC in the Buffalo Division. Mr. Mason began his career in the New Haven Division.

James H. Burrus, Jr., SAC Salt Lake City: Mr. Burrus is currently serving as a Section Chief in the Administrative Services Division at FBI Headquarters. Mr. Burrus served as an investigator in the El Paso Division. He held supervisory positions in the Office of Professional Responsibility and the Tampa Division. He also served as ASAC in the Minneapolis Division.
