Executive-Level Appointments Announced

Director Robert S. Mueller, III today announced executive appointments at FBI Headquarters and the Los Angeles Field Division.

Steven M. Martinez, currently the assistant director in charge of the Los Angeles Division, was named executive assistant director of the Science and Technology Branch. In this role, he will be responsible for the executive oversight of the Operational Technology, Laboratory, and Criminal Justice Information Services Divisions. Mr. Martinez succeeds Louis Grever, who recently retired from the FBI. Prior to his time in Los Angeles, Mr. Martinez served as the special agent in charge of the Las Vegas Division and acting assistant director of the Cyber Division. Read the full biography.

Ralph S. Boelter, the assistant director of the Counterterrorism Division at FBI Headquarters, has been selected to succeed Mr. Martinez as the assistant director in charge of the Los Angeles Division. Mr. Boelter previously served as an inspector at FBI Headquarters and as the special agent in charge of the Minneapolis Division, where he worked extensively with a threat facing a large Somali community. Andrew G. McCabe, the deputy assistant director for operations of the Counterterrorism Division, was appointed to succeed Mr. Boelter as assistant director of the Counterterrorism Division. Mr. McCabe has served as an assistant special agent in charge of counterterrorism in the Washington Field Office and as director of the High-Value Interrogation Group. Read the full biography.

Robert J. Holley, special agent in charge of the Indianapolis Division, was selected to succeed Mr. McCabe as deputy assistant director of the Counterterrorism Division.
