Director Robert Mueller Announces Appointment of Chief Technology Officer

WASHINGTON, D.C. - FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III, announced the appointment of Jerome "Jack" Israel to the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Mr.Israel came to the FBI from the National Security Agency (NSA) to serve as CTO. He is responsible for developing new and emerging capabilities, using the latest information technologies to enhance all FBI Information Technology lines of business. As CTO he will specifically address the pivotal role technology plays in both solving and preventing hostile and/or criminal acts.

Director Mueller said, "Jack brings tremendous experience and skills to a position that will crucially define the future of law enforcement in a digital age."

Mr. Israel served 25 years at NSA, most recently as Technical Director of Analysis and Production. He also specialized in Internet security and served as an intelligence analyst. He is a graduate of Indiana University and earned a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence from the Joint Military Intelligence College.
