Statement by FBI Director Christopher Wray on the Use of Body-Worn Cameras on Federal Task Forces
FBI Director Christopher Wray released the following statement concerning the Justice Department's announcement that it will permit state, local, territorial, and tribal task force officers to use body-worn cameras on federal task forces around the nation. The department’s policy will permit federally deputized officers to activate a body-worn camera while serving arrest warrants, or during other planned arrest operations, and during the execution of search warrants. The policy is the result of a pilot program launched by the department last October.
The FBI values the collaborative efforts of our state, local, and tribal partners, as they are integral to the success of our common mission to protect the American people and uphold the Constitution. We hope this program will enable us to further expand these efforts and build upon deep-rooted relationships within our communities.
