FBI Announces Executive Appointments

FBI Director James B. Comey announced today the following leadership appointments:

David Bowdich, associate deputy director of the FBI, FBI Headquarters

Mr. Bowdich will assume the position of associate deputy director of the FBI. Most recently, Mr. Bowdich served as the assistant director in charge of the Los Angeles Field Office. In this critical role, Mr. Bowdich will oversee most of the FBI’s non-operational branches and divisions.

Michael Steinbach, executive assistant director for the National Security Branch, FBI Headquarters

Mr. Steinbach has been named executive assistant director for the National Security Branch, replacing John Giacalone, who will be retiring at the end of February. Mr. Steinbach most recently served as the assistant director of the Counterterrorism Division.

James Turgal, executive assistant director for the Information and Technology Branch, FBI Headquarters

Mr. Turgal has been named executive assistant director for the Information and Technology Branch. Most recently, Mr. Turgal served as the assistant director of the Human Resources Division.

Deirdre Fike, assistant director in charge, Los Angeles Field Office

Ms. Fike has been named assistant director in charge of the Los Angeles Field Office. Most recently, Ms. Fike served as the special agent in charge of the Anchorage Division.

David Schlendorf, assistant director for the Human Resources Division, FBI Headquarters

Mr. Schlendorf has been named the assistant director for the Human Resources Division. Most recently, Mr. Schlendorf served as the assistant director of the Resource Planning Office.
