Michael Gavin Named Special Agent in Charge of Memphis Division

Director James B. Comey has named Michael Gavin the special agent in charge (SAC) of the FBI’s Memphis Division. Mr. Gavin most recently served as section chief of the Criminal Investigative Division’s National Covert Operations Section.

Mr. Gavin entered on duty as a special agent in 1995 and was first assigned to the Las Vegas Division, where he investigated white-collar crime, violent crime, and organized crime. He has worked various investigative matters in the FBI’s Criminal Investigative Division, International Operations Division, and Inspection Division. Throughout his career, Mr. Gavin has held leadership positions in Montgomery, Alabama; San Francisco, California; and Washington, D.C.

Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Gavin served as a special agent with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation for more than eight years. Mr. Gavin will assume his new role in Memphis in mid-August.
