Director Christopher Wray has named George P. Beach, II as the assistant director of the FBI’s Office of Partner Engagement. He most recently served as the superintendent of the New York State Police.

As superintendent, Mr. Beach commanded more than 5,000 troopers, investigators, and civilians. His command included patrol and general law enforcement, highway safety and traffic enforcement, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and the Office of Counter Terrorism, which includes the New York State Intelligence Center.

Mr. Beach graduated from the New York State Police Academy in 1983 and served in the state police for more than 30 years, rising through the ranks and accepting leadership positions throughout his career. He also graduated from the FBI National Academy, a professional development course for rising law enforcement officers, in 1992.

From 2007 to 2013, Mr. Beach managed the internal affairs and audits for 1,000 members and civilian staff. In 2013, he served as a lieutenant colonel, supervising a force of 3,200. During that time he was also an executive committee member of the policy development team and a technology working group co-chair. He also worked with the state police superintendent and state officials to coordinate resources, exchange information, and manage statewide emergency response.

Mr. Beach was named superintendent in 2016.

Prior to joining the state police, Mr. Beach was a firefighter in Irvington, New Jersey. He graduated from the University of Idaho and holds a master’s degree in criminal justice administration from the State University of New York at Albany.

The FBI Office of Partner Engagement builds relationships between the Bureau, federal agencies, and law enforcement at all levels across the nation. The office also works with law enforcement associations and others within the broad public safety, law enforcement, and homeland security communities.
