FBI Announces Executive Appointments
FBI Director James B. Comey has announced the following leadership appointments:
Amy Hess Named Special Agent in Charge of Louisville Division
Ms. Hess most recently served as the executive assistant director of the Science and Technology Branch.
Ms. Hess entered on duty with the FBI as a special agent in 1991 and was first assigned to the Kansas City Division, where she investigated violent crimes, gangs, and drug trafficking organizations. She was an applicant assessor, a firearms instructor, and a member of the office’s Evidence Response Team.
Ms. Hess led the Louisville Division’s first Joint Terrorism Task Force and has held subsequent leadership positions in the Inspection Division, Phoenix Division’s Tucson Resident Agency, the National Security Branch, and International Operations Division and has served as the special agent in charge of the Memphis Division and as assistant director of the Operational Technology Division.
Ms. Hess is originally from Jeffersonville, Indiana and holds a degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from Purdue University.
Ms. Hess will assume this position in October.
Christopher Piehota Named Executive Assistant Director of Science and Technology Branch
Mr. Piehota most recently served as the director of the Terrorist Screening Center.
Mr. Piehota entered on duty with the FBI as a special agent in 1995 and was first assigned to the Newark Division, where he investigated mainly international terrorism, domestic terrorism, and weapons of mass destruction matters. Mr. Piehota was a member of the Newark Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Throughout his career, Mr. Piehota has held leadership positions in the Counterterrorism Division, Counterintelligence Division, and Field Office’s Northern Virginia Resident Agency and has served as the special agent in charge of the Buffalo Division.
Mr. Piehota will assume this position in October when Ms. Hess transfers to the Louisville Division.
