Director James B. Comey has named Christopher Todd Doss assistant director of the FBI’s Laboratory Division. Mr. Doss most recently served as the deputy assistant director for the division.

Mr. Doss began his career as a special agent with the FBI in 1995. He was first assigned to the Tucson Resident Agency out of the Phoenix Division, where he investigated organized crime and drug cases. In 1999, he became the first supervisory senior resident agent over the division’s new Yuma Resident Agency.

In 2002, Mr. Doss transferred to FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. as supervisory special agent in the Criminal Investigative Division. While there, he led a multi-agency team that provided operational support for significant transnational drug investigations.

He moved to the Counterterrorism Division in 2003 and implemented procedures to ensure the timely execution of surveillance requests. He was promoted the next year to chief of a unit which supported national security investigations.

In 2005, Mr. Doss was selected as assistant special agent in charge of the Louisville Division. He returned to FBI Headquarters two years later to be a unit chief in the Operational Technology Division.

Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Doss was a police officer with the Gainesville, Georgia Police Department and a chief investigator for the district attorney in the Northeastern Judicial Circuit of Georgia.
