Mr. Schiff: That’s Special Agent Sharon Ormsby, chief of the FBI’s Financial Crimes Section. She attended the recent Mortgage Fraud Summit in Miami.

Ms. Ormsby: “The summit was put together to provide information to the public as to what law enforcement is doing regarding the financial crisis.”

Mr. Schiff: Ormsby says one of many takedowns was in October 2009.

Mr. Ochoa: “We had Operation Bad Deeds, which involved a multi-state takedown in New York state, resulting in 41 defendants being charged. There were $64 million in residential home mortgages involving more than 100 properties.”

Mr. Schiff: There have been about 1,200 convictions for mortgage fraud in the past three years. I’m Neal Schiff of the Bureau and that’s what’s happening at the “FBI, This Week.”
