Mollie Halpern: The FBI launches a new tool to boost its ability to analyze, prevent, and mitigate cyber threats. I’m Mollie Halpern, and this is FBI, This Week. iGuardian provides private companies a standardized way to report information to the FBI if they’re a victim of cyber intrusions. Executive Assistant Director of the Criminal, Cyber, Response, and Services Branch Richard McFeely says it’s currently available to about 58,000 InfraGard members in the private sector.

Richard A. McFeely: It involves companies that have an interest in protecting their companies through things like cyber intrusions or theft of intellectual property, theft of trade secrets…

Halpern: This increased information sharing between the FBI and private industry is key.

McFeely: We need companies to report intrusions because it’s going to help us conduct investigations. Even put people behind bars.

Halpern: iGuardian is currently accessible only to InfraGard members but the FBI plans to provide it to additional partners in the future.

McFeely: Sectors such as the financial services industry, the energy sector, transportation…

Halpern: For more information visit www.fbi.gov.
