Ms. Ballew: There are different ways to catch criminals. One of those is Operation Infra-Red, a worldwide round-up sponsored by Interpol.

Mr. Ives: “The fugitives being sought through Operation Infra-Red are those fugitives that each country believes have fled their national jurisdiction.”

Ms. Ballew: Twenty-nine countries participated this year, bringing 450 cases. Supervisory Special Agent Eric Ives represented FBI at Interpol headquarters in France and says there are two parts to the FBI’s mission there.

Mr. Ives: “To help find fugitives that possibly are residing in other countries or might be located in other countries and to assist other countries in finding fugitives that might be in the United States.”

Ms. Ballew: The FBI brought more than 40 federal cases, with an array of violations.

Mr. Ives: “From murderers to rapists, child molesters, cyber criminals, fraudsters...some of our Top Ten Most Wanted fugitives were being sought through Operation Infra-Red.”
