FBI Arrests Suspect Wanted for Murder

At approximately 4:45 a.m. on October 2, the FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force (NOVCTF) arrested Anthony Eugene, a black male, 35 years of age, without incident, in the 3500 block of Division Street in Metairie, Louisiana. Eugene was arrested as he was observed leaving his residence.

An arrest warrant for Eugene was obtained yesterday by the New Orleans Police Department’s Homicide Division charging Eugene with second-degree homicide. That charge stemmed from the murder of Rebecca Demuth. Her body was discovered on July 29, 2014, in the 4200 block of France Road. She suffered several gunshot wounds. The NOVCTF assisted the NOPD with the investigation.

Following Eugene’s arrest this morning, a search warrant was executed at his residence in relation to the murder investigation.

Eugene will be transported to the JPSO lockup where he will be charged with drug related charges stemming from the search of his residence. He will also be held on the NOPD murder warrant and await extradition to Orleans Parish.

Assisting the NOVCTF this morning were NOPD Homicide and the JPSO. Other agencies on the NOVCTF include the Louisiana State Police and the Kenner Police Department.
