River Ridge Man Indicted for Bank Robbery

DON LEE ALEXANDER, JR., age 36, a resident of River Ridge, Louisiana, was charged today in a single-count indictment by a federal grand jury for bank robbery, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to information contained in a criminal complaint and indictment against ALEXANDER, it is alleged he robbed the Whitney National Bank located at 4845 Veterans Boulevard, Metairie, Louisiana on August 19, 2011. ALEXANDER was identified by former co-workers who viewed the bank surveillance photograph posted on a local television website. The co-workers notified local authorities who then contacted the FBI. Within days of the bank robbery ALEXANDER was captured and is currently in federal custody awaiting trial.
If convicted, ALEXANDER faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years, a fine of $250,000, and three years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
U.S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
