Illegal Alien Sentenced in Federal Court for Violation of a Protective Order

NEW ORLEANS, LA—YONNI GONZALES DE LA CRUZ, age 22, a resident of Mexico, was sentenced today in federal court by U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon to 18 months in prison for one count of interstate violation of a protective order and one count of improper entry by an alien, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, DE LA CRUZ previously pled guilty admitting that he travelled in interstate and foreign commerce with the intent to engage in conduct that violates a protective order. DE LA CRUZ also admitted that he entered the United States without the proper consent.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
