Two Men Indicted on Federal Drug Charges

NEW ORLEANS, LA—ORIN N. HARRIS a/k/a “O”, age 34 and a resident of Slidell, Louisiana and ETHAN DURAND HARRIS, age 29 and a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, were charged in a twelve (12) count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury for conspiracy to distribute cocaine hydrochloride and cocaine base (crack), along with distribution of cocaine base and possession with intent to distribute cocaine hydrochloride (powder), announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten.

The indictment alleges that ETHAN DURAND HARRIS was a part of the drug conspiracy and actually sold crack cocaine on one occasion. The indictment also charges that ORIN N. HARRIS distributed crack cocaine on seven(7) occasions and cocaine hydrochloride on two (2) occasions. ORIN N. HARRIS was also charged with possession of cocaine hydrochloride with the intent to distribute less than five-hundred (500) grams.

If convicted, the defendants face a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment and millions in fines.

U.S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendants must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Edward J. Rivera of the Violent Crime Unit.
