Federal Inmate Sentenced to Two Years of Additional Prison Time for Assaulting Correctional Officers

U.S. Attorney’s Office September 13, 2010
  • District of Connecticut (203) 821-3700

David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that SEASON HOPE EAGLEMAN, 25, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant in Hartford to 24 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for assaulting two correctional officers at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Danbury. On May 25, 2010, EAGLMAN pleaded guilty to one count of assaulting a federal officer.

According to court documents and statements made in court, EAGLEMAN was a federal prisoner at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Danbury. On the evening of December 2, 2009, a correctional officer at FCI Danbury was transporting another inmate when EAGLEMAN reached through the bars of her own cell and grabbed at the inmate and the correctional officer. A second correctional officer quickly arrived and managed to get them out of EAGLEMAN’s grip. However, EAGLEMAN then began hitting and grabbing at the head, neck and shoulder area of the assisting correctional officer.

Approximately 30 minutes later, the first correctional officer approached EAGLEMAN’s cell due to bumping or banging noises coming from that area. The correctional officer made efforts to calm her. EAGLEMAN then reached through the bars in her cell and punched the correctional officer in the nose. The officer did not suffer a broken nose, but experienced pain and swelling, sought medical attention, and missed work.

On January 25, 2007, EAGLEMAN was sentenced in the U.S. District Court in the District of Montana to 114 months of imprisonment for assault with a dangerous weapon and use of a firearm during a crime of violence. The sentence imposed today will be added to the sentence that EAGLEMAN is currently serving.

EAGLEMAN has been transferred from FCI Danbury.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anastasia Enos King.
