FBI Newark Announces Recipient of Director’s Community Leadership Award

This past January, Dr. Thomas Haveron, owner of Haveron Total Health, was recognized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with the Director’s Community Leadership Award. Dr. Haveron was nominated for this prestigious award by the Special Agent in Charge of the Newark FBI Office and traveled to Washington, D.C. on April 15 to participate in the formal ceremony with FBI Director James B. Comey.

Dr. Haveron has been a benefactor to the Tri-State community for years. His community work, through his numerous outreach programs, has assisted countless children and families in need throughout the Newark and Harrison communities. Dr. Haveron is the founder of the MVP Foundation, which partners with athletes in the MLB and NBA to help children battling with cancer. Children are given the opportunity to travel to sports venues around the country and meet many of their favorite athletes while also receiving thousands of dollars to assist with medical expenses.

Every year during December, Dr. Haveron along with a professional athlete, organizes a toy giveaway at his Harrison office. The toys are purchased from Dr. Haveron’s personal funds and it gives many children a present for the holidays which they otherwise would not receive. Additionally, Dr. Haveron partners with professional athletes, politicians, and executives in the music industry in outreach programs directed to providing school supplies and targeting gangs and gun violence within urban schools.

“Dr. Haveron is an exemplary role model and citizen who goes above and beyond the call of service to make life better for so many children in need,” stated Special Agent in Charge Timothy Gallagher of the Newark FBI Field Office. “His service to the community and dedication to helping others is an inspiration for all of us at the Newark FBI Office.”

The Director’s Community leadership Award is presented on behalf of the Director of the FBI and was formally created in 1990 as a way to publicly honor those who have gone above and beyond the call to service by tirelessly working to make their own cities and towns a better and safer place for their fellow residents.
