FBI Offering Reward of Up to $20,000 in Carla Vicentini Disappearance

On the ninth anniversary of the disappearance of Carla Vicentini, the Newark Division of the FBI is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the location of Carla Vicentini or information leading to the identity of the person(s) involved in her disappearance.

On January 19, 2006, Carla Vicentini arrived in the United States through an exchange program with Brazil. Immediately upon her arrival in the United States, she began working at White Castle Restaurant located on Route 46 in Ledgewood, New Jersey. She resided at the Roxbury Motel also located on Route 46 in Ledgewood until February 5, 2006, when she moved with a roommate to an apartment on Ferry Street in Newark.

During the early morning hours of February 10, 2006, Vicentini was visiting her roommate at Adega Bar and Grill, located at 130 Ferry Street, in Newark, where she worked as a waitress. At approximately 2:30 a.m., she left the bar with an unidentified white male she met in the lounge of Adega Bar and Grill. Vicentini told her roommate she was going to look at a photograph in the automobile of this individual and would meet her at their apartment, only a few blocks away. Vicentini was never seen or heard from again.

Vicentini is a native of Brazil and speaks Portuguese and limited English. The individual she left the bar with is described as a white male of unknown nationality, 5’8’’ tall, 200 pounds with a stocky build, and approximately 30 years old. He is further described as having a fair complexion, light eyes, and salt and pepper short hair.

A combination of media publicity, digital billboards, and the use of social media will be utilized to publicize the new reward being offered. Digital billboard space across the Newark area and her photo will be sent out on various FBI social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter.
