Leader of Plainfield G-Shine Bloods Pleads Guilty to Crack Cocaine Charge

NEWARK, NJ—The leader of the G-Shine Bloods criminal street gang operating in Plainfield, N.J., admitted today to his involvement with crack cocaine distribution in the area, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.
Haleem McCoy, a/k/a “Holler,” 27, of Plainfield, pleaded guilty to an information charging one count of distribution of crack cocaine before U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton in Newark federal court.
According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court, in 2010, McCoy distributed crack cocaine to an FBI confidential informant for approximately $2,500.
McCoy faces a minimum potential penalty of five years in prison and a maximum potential penalty of 40 years in prison and a $2 million fine, as well as restitution as ordered by the Court. Sentencing is scheduled for November 7, 2011.
U.S. Attorney Fishman credited special agents of the FBI, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Michael B. Ward in Newark, and the FBI Violent Crimes Criminal Enterprise Task Force assigned to the Safe Streets Task Force; the Union County Prosecutor’s Office; the New Jersey State Police; and the Plainfield Police Department for the investigation leading to today’s plea.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Rodney Villazor of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Criminal Division in Newark.
