Mobile County Man Sentenced to 84 Months’ Incarceration for Possession of a Firearm During a Crime of Violence

United States Attorney Kenyen Brown announces that Elbert Lewis Carter, 46-years-old, a Mobile, Alabama resident, was sentenced today by the Honorable Charles R. Butler to 84 months’ incarceration, followed by five years of supervised release, and a monetary assessment of $100. This sentence was for possessing and brandishing a firearm while robbing the Regions Bank located at 7158 Cottage Hill Road, Mobile, Alabama. Carter was indicted in March 2012 and later pled guilty pursuant to a plea agreement on May 21, 2012. Carter was serving a term of supervised release on an unrelated state case when he committed the instant offense. The judge ordered that Carter’s federal sentence run consecutive to any state sentence received upon revocation of his state term of supervised release.
Special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case. The prosecutor assigned to the case is Assistant United States Attorney, Gina S. Vann.
