Montgomery Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Robbery

MONTGOMERY, AL—“Bank robberies are unspeakable crimes which place innocent, hard working people in harm’s way. My office will continue to work to take these criminals off the street,” announced George L. Beck, Jr., the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama. Kenton Maurice Hall, 31 years old, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Montgomery, Ala., to robbing Aliant Bank in Alexander City.

On August 31, 2010, Hall approached a bank teller and handed her a note that stated, “Give me the money out of the draw. Please and hurry. All 100, 50, 20, 10, 5. Hurry.” Just after the robbery, a bank customer approached the bank teller’s window. The bank teller told a bank customer what had just happened. The customer then jumped into his vehicle and chased after Hall in his car. During the chase, Hall crashed his car and fled on foot. The bank customer caught up to Hall, drew his weapon, and asked Hall to get on the ground. Hall ignored the request and ran through the woods until law enforcement apprehended him. The bank robbery charge holds a maximum punishment of 20 years in federal prison.

The Montgomery office of the FBI in conjunction with the Alexander City Police Department and Clanton Police Department investigated this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Monica A. Stump is prosecuting this case.
