Man Sentenced for Child Pornography Offenses

The United States Attorney Kenyen R. Brown announces today, Michael Elbert Mitchell, of Chickasaw, Alabama, was sentenced today to eight years in prison for receipt of child pornography. Mitchell was also sentenced by United States District Judge Kristi K. DuBose to 15 years of supervised release following his incarceration. He will have to register as a sex offender in any jurisdiction where he works, lives, or attends school.

The investigation was performed by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, working with the United States Attorney’s Office Project Safe Childhood Task Force, and presented for prosecution to the United States Attorney’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Sean P. Costello handled the prosecution of the case on behalf of the United States.
