The FBI Announces a New Resident Agencey Office in North Dakota

FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard T. Thornton is pleased to announce the establishment of a new FBI resident agency office in North Dakota. The office will be located at 42nd Street West in the Badlands Town Center Complex in Williston, North Dakota. It is anticipated the office will become fully staffed and operational later this year.

The office in Williston will join the four existing offices in North Dakota, which are currently located in Fargo, Grand Forks, Minot, and Bismarck. The office will serve as a sub office of the FBI’s Minneapolis Division and will serve the citizens of western North Dakota.

Special Agent in Charge Thornton states, “The office in Williston is a welcomed addition to our presence in North Dakota. The opening of this office is in response to the unprecedented growth in population and economic activity associated with the oil exploration and production in the Bakken region and the corresponding increase in criminal activity. The FBI will be in a better position to effectively address these issues in this region of North Dakota through this new office. We look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts with our local law enforcement partners in the region through this permanent presence.”

The opening of this office was significantly facilitated through the efforts and the steadfast support of the North Dakota congressional delegation, as well as the FBI’s state and local law enforcement partners.
