TCF Bank Robbery

On February 1, 2015, a lone, black male (robber) entered a TCF Bank branch located at 5301 36th Avenue North in Crystal at approximately 1:55 p.m. The robber approached the victim teller and gave the teller a note which threatened violence and demanded cash. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber fled from the bank on foot.

Acting upon information which was subsequently developed, law enforcement officials from various departments, through a coordinated effort, were able to arrest Marcus D. Houston, date of birth July 18, 1990, of Chicago, Illinois, and Tavarus Hardaway, date of birth June 12, 1966, of Saint Louis Park approximately 15 minutes after the robbery as they sat in their vehicle in an Arby’s parking lot in Brooklyn Center, just off of Brooklyn Boulevard. Both men were taken into custody without incident and are being detained at the Hennepin County Detention Center in Minneapolis.

The following departments participated in the apprehension of Houston and Hardaway:

  • Crystal Police Department
  • Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office
  • Robbinsdale Police Department
  • Saint Louis Park Police Department
  • FBI

Both Houston and Hardaway are presumed innocent of this crime unless/until they are convicted in a court of law.
