Cannonball Woman Pleads Guilty to Voluntary Manslaughter

BISMARCK—U.S. Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced that on April 24, 2012, Ivanna Red Bow, 27, of Cannonball, North Dakota, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to a charge of voluntary manslaughter.

On December 30, 2010, Red Bow assaulted Loren Uses Arrow with a knife during a verbal and physical argument. Red Bow inflicted a stab wound to Uses Arrow’s upper left chest area, causing Uses Arrow’s death.

The charge of voluntary manslaughter carries a statutory maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Indian Affairs-Standing Rock Agency.

Sentencing for Red Bow has been scheduled for July 30, 2012, in U.S. District Court in Bismarck, North Dakota at 9:30 a.m.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary Delorme is prosecuting the case.
