Belcourt Man Sentenced for Assault

MINOT—U.S. Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced that on October 29, 2012, Kenneth N. Allery, Jr., 30, of Belcourt, North Dakota, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Daniel L. Hovland on a charge of assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Allery pleaded guilty to the charge on May 21, 2012.
Judge Hovland sentenced Allery to six years and five months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release. Allery was ordered to pay $35,229.82 in restitution and a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victim’s Fund.
On May 30, 2011, Allery stabbed the victim in the chest with a knife. The victim sought medical attention and underwent surgery for his injury.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs-Turtle Mountain Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandi Sasse Russell prosecuted the case.
