Three McLaughlin Men Indicted for Assaulting Bullhead Man

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that three McLaughlin men have been indicted by a federal grand jury for the alleged assault of a Bullhead man in June 2010.
William Little Bear, Kyle White Bull, and Kenton Walks were indicted by a federal grand jury on October 12, 2011, for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault resulting in serious bodily injury, and aiding and abetting. Little Bear and White Bull appeared before United States Magistrate Judge William D. Gerdes on October 18, 2011, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both. Restitution may also be ordered. The charges are merely accusations, and White Bull and Little Bear are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Standing Rock Agency. Assistant United States Attorney Mikal Hanson is prosecuting the case.
White Bull and Little Bear were released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not yet been set.
