St. Michael Man Sentenced on Federal Drug Charges

GRAND FORKS—United States Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced that on September 13, 2011, Darren Strouse, of St. Michael, North Dakota, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Ralph R. Erickson on two counts of distribution of a controlled substance.

Strouse, 33, pleaded guilty on June 30, 2011, to selling methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, in November of 2009 and August of 2010 on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation.

Judge Erickson sentenced Strouse to 15 months’ imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. Strouse was ordered to pay a $200 special assessment to the Crime Victim’s Fund.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Devils Lake Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Janice M. Morley prosecuted the case.
