Rosebud Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Abuse of a Minor

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Edward Zane Roubideaux, Jr., age 20, of Rosebud, South Dakota, appeared before United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange on August 16, 2011, and pled guilty to sexual abuse of a minor. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 15 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, or both.

During the time period from June 1, 2010, to June 30, 2010, Edward Zane Roubideaux, Jr. engaged in sexual intercourse with a victim who at the time was 13 years old. Roubideaux was over 19 years old and knew the age of the victim.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher.

A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for November 14, 2011. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing.
